Ever wanted to try the snatch, or the clean and jerk? Wondered about how to get started? What is a snatch anyway?

Starting on the 16th of February we'll be running a short  4 week course covering the basics of the snatch and the clean and jerk, and other aspects of weightlifting. The course is open to all comers but it's capped and we've already given our members a preview and heads up.

But why?

Lifting for Fat Loss & Fitness

Weight lifting movements work large groups of muscles and can jack your heart rate efficiently and effectively to maximise the benefits of your gym time. High repetition weightlifting movements, at light to moderate weights (doesn't need to be heavy) can burn through the calories like a hot knife through butter.

The more weightlifting you do, the more muscle you grow, the stronger you get. We can multiply the weights lifted by number of reps done and the number of sets completed, to give us daily and weekly volume. It's a super easy way of documenting exactly how much work you do in the gym.

Numbers don't lie and they can't be fudged. They're written on the sides of the weight plates we use. So, as you start to reach for weight plates with bigger numbers on them, you're actually seeing evidence of your strength gains over time!

Getting stronger means you gain more muscle. More muscle means bigger calorie burn. More energy expenditure (calories out) leads to calorie deficit. Put simply reduce body fat at the same time as gaining muscle. But wait there's more! Improvements in mobility, flexibility, coordination, agility etc go hand in hand with weightlifting.

Sounds simple? It is. But we have to exercise caution at the same time. Those gains won't come if you're injured as a result of a badly executed power snatch for instance. Coaching is essential. That's why we came up with this short course. Get taught by a qualified weightlifting coach and take things at your own pace in some 1-on-1 personalised coaching sessions.

You'll need to hurry. Spots are capped and we start next Tuesday the 16th of February
